Williams leads MGCCC women in loss

PERKINSTON — Keiara Williams had 18 points and seven rebounds for Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 73-63 loss to Meridian on Monday night.

Eanna Sims (5-11, Fr., Jackson/Forest Hill) had 10 points and 12 rebounds. It was her third double-double of the season.

Williams (6-1, Fr., New Orleans/Warren Easton) also had five blocked shots.

Gulf Coast (7-13, 1-9 MACJC South) trailed by as many as 19 in the first half, but trimmed its deficit to six in the third and fourth quarters. The Lady Bulldogs could never get the gap any smaller.

Meridian is 8-11, 3-8.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Thursday when No. 17 Jones County visits the Weathers/Wentzell Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
