Lady Bulldogs need win against rival PRCC

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast sits at .500 for the season and is gunning for its first winning season since 2012-13.

The Lady Bulldogs (10-10, 2-9 MACJC South) entertains archrival Pearl River (6-13, 3-8) on Thursday in Perkinston. Fans attending the game at the Weathers/Wentzell Center are encouraged to support the team in the White Out game.

"They're ready," Gulf Coast coach Jason Conner said. "We're going to try to get this one tomorrow night. They're going to have to do a good job on the defensive end. We've got to get to the basketball and contain that dribble."

Pearl River won the first meeting between the two teams 60-57. The Lady Bulldogs' Ka'Nosha Fairley barely missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.

Gulf Coast has surpassed its win total from the past two seasons, but is looking to finish above .500. It faces games at Hinds on Tuesday and returns to Perkinston for Sophomore Night on Feb. 18.

"Going to Hinds is a hard place to play," Conner said. "I really don't want to think past Pearl River, but we'd really like to get two of the past three."
