MGCCC ranked 8th in preseason poll
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast is ranked eighth in the Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Preseason Poll, released Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
New head coach Brad Thornton's first squad will start its season Sept. 20-21 in the Derrall Foreman Invitational hosted by Delta State.
Gulf Coast is ranked one spot behind Meridian, the only other MACCC school in the rankings.
Perennial powerhouse South Mountain got three of five first-place votes to edge defending champion Parkland, which got the other two votes. Kirkwood is third, followed by Tyler and Iowa Central in the top-five.
