No. 5 MGCCC finishes 4th in Montgomery
No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast lost a spot on the team leaderboard in Tuesday's final round of the Trojan Invitational in Montgomery, Ala., and finished fourth.
The Bulldogs shot 9-over to 22 shots behind host Central Alabama, which was the only team under par at Lagoon Park Golf Course. Eastern Florida State and Calhoun were nine shots back.
David Beard (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) shot 2-under in the second round to finish tied for 13th at 2-over. Alessio Graziani (Fr., Johannesburg, South Africa/Beaulieu College), who was tied for the lead after the first round, shot 79 to join teammate Reeves Johnson (So., Madison/Germantown) in a tie for 17th.
Johnson and Chase Kaiser (Fr., Natchez/Cathedral) shot 75s in the final round.
Gulf Coast travels to Joplin, Mo., for the NJCAA Tournament Preview on Oct. 18-19. It's a 54-hole event at Twin Hills Country Club.
