Graziani tied for lead after 18 in Montgomery
No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast's Alessio Graziani shot 3-under in the first round of the Trojan Invitational on Monday at the Lagoon Park Golf Club in Montgomery, Ala., leading the Bulldogs to third in the team standings.
The first day of competition was played in bad weather, forcing organizers to shorten it to a 36-hole event. It will conclude Tuesday with the final round.
Graziani is tied with Eastern Florida State's Robert Greninger, one shot ahead of Calhoun's Ryley Heath and two ahead of five golfers tied at 1-under.
Gulf Coast's Reeves Johnson (So., Madison/Germantown) is tied for 11th at 1-over, with David Beard (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) and Matt Wilkinson (So., Madison/Madison Central) tied for 30th three more shots back.
Gulf Coast shot 6-over to trail host Central Alabama by seven shots and Eastern Florida by one.
