No. 5 Bulldogs lead by a shot

No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast leads after the first round of the first MACCC golf tournament of the year. The Bulldogs shot even-par 288 to finish Saturday one ahead of Meridian at the Hinds Fall Invitational in Raymond.

Gulf Coast's Reeves Johnson (So., Madison/Germantown) is at 2-under 70 in second place, two behind Northeast's Tate Dickerson. David Beard (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) is another shot back tied for third.

Matt Wilkinson (So., Madison/Madison Central) is tied for eighth at 1-over, with Ethan Trouth (So., Sutton Coldfield, England/The Streetly Academy), Chase Kaiser (Fr., Natchez/Cathedral) and Spence Davis (Fr., Madison/Madison Central) at 74 tied for 10th. Kaiser and Davis are playing as individuals.

The second round of the tournament will be played Sunday. The event is being played at the 6,722-yard Eagle Ridge Golf Club.
