Hall, Beattie named to All-Region 23 team
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast soccer players Jordan Hall and James Beattie have been named to the NJCAA All-Region 23, and both will be eligible for inclusion on the Division I All-American team.
The tandem helped lead the Bulldogs to a 15-3 record and the MACJC South Division championship. They advanced to the NJCAA district playoffs, where the played Tyler, the No. 1 team in the country, a tight game until a pair of late goals ended their season.
Hall, a freshman forward from Manchester, England, scored 28 goals and assisted on 12 more. He had a streak of four straight games with a hat trick and finished with six overall. He's second in the country in goals.
"He's had such a stunning run with all the hat tricks, but he's more than that," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "He works hard and takes pride in his assists. He's a humble kid, and was so important to our defensive play up top."
Beattie, a sophomore from Glasgow, Scotland, had 12 goals and a team-high 15 assists. He tied for sixth in the country in assists, and he finishes his Gulf Coast career with 25 goals and 26 assists.
It's the second straight All-Region selection for Beattie, who helped reintroduce international players to the state.
"He came in from the first day he set foot on campus and set a high standard for the players around him," Handy said. "He was really the first international player in the state, and league was trying to catch up with him. He was not just a force for us, but his character on and off the field set a standard for us."
