UPDATE: This release has been updated to reflect a change in the start time of the doubleheader.

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast returns to Ross-Smith Field for its first MACCC doubleheader of the season Saturday.

The Bulldogs will take on No. 9 Northwest Mississippi with first pitch set for 2 p.m. The start was moved back to allow time to get the field dry. The games will be streamed at https://livestream.com/mgcccbulldogs/events/10237134.

Records

  • MGCCC: 11-12/3-1 MACCC, T-3rd place in conference
  • Northwest: 11-5/1-3 MACCC, T-11th place in conference

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC won twice at Meridian on Thursday, winning 10-2 in five innings and 6-0.
  • Northwest got swept by Itawamba on Thursday, falling 14-11 and 9-6.

Previous Meeting

Gulf Coast knocked Northwest out of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament with a 10-8 win on May 15, 2021.

Notes

  • Gulf Coast has won the last six meetings between the teams dating back to 2019.
  • Kristian Jones (So., Southaven/DeSoto Central) is tied for seventh in NJCAA Division II and leads the MACCC with 11 doubles.
  • K.K. Agner (So., Horn Lake/Magnolia Heights) is sixth in the MACCC with five home runs and a .804 slugging percentage.
