Bulldogs split doubleheader at Pearl River

POPLARVILLE---A 14-hit attack blew open game two and propelled Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to a 16-3 rout of Pearl River in a doubleheader split Tuesday.

The Bulldogs (14-15, 4-8) fell 3-2 in game one despite another solid pitching performance by Cam Cochran. The Bulldog sophomore went five and 1/3 innings and gave up two earned runs and struck out 9. Jacob Swiney's towering solo homerun was one of only for Bulldog hits in the game.

In game two, the offense came alive as five players had at least two hits. James Land had three hits while Richie Clark, Tyler Quave, Adam Cagnina, and D.Q. Farmer each had two. Swiney and Cagnina each totaled 3 RBI. Koby Ross, Chris Wease, and Rayn Henry combined to hold the archrival Wildcats to three runs on two hits.

The Bulldogs travel to East Central for another MACJC South Division doubleheader Saturday.
