Baseball sweeps Co-Lin
PERKINSTON---For the first time this season, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has swept an MACJC South Division doubleheader. The Bulldogs (18-19, 8-12) took two from Co-Lin Thursday, winning game one 13-2 and taking the nightcap 4-3 in extra innings.
In game one, Gulf Coast smacked five homeruns, including two by James Land, in a 13-2 rout. Land went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI while Richie Clark, Adam Cagnina, and Jacob Swiney each homered and had two hits. That was more than enough run support for pitcher Cam Cochran, who struck out eight in seven innings for the victory.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 2-2 then scored two in the bottom of the eighth to get the 4-3 victory. Tyler Quave had two hits on offense while Ryan Henry, Ryne Long, and Taylor Olsen combined to hold Co-Lin to three runs on eight hits.
Gulf Coast travels to take on #1 Jones next Wednesday.
