Lee wins third MACJC award of season

PERKINSTON – Kaitlin Lee won her third MACJC Pitcher of the Week award of the young season Tuesday.

The sophomore right-hander from Harrison Central, who has already won NJCAA Pitcher of the Week this year, too, didn't allow an earned run in four appearances during the week, posting a 1-1 record with a save. She struck out 16 batters in 15 innings, allowing only seven hits.

Lee, who after a win Monday at Hinds improved to 10-1, now has a streak of 23.2 innings pitched without a walk.

Last week, she struck out eight in a five-inning shutout win over Pearl River, then pitched 2.1 innings of relief in the nightcap.

On Friday, she entered Game 1 against Itawamba in the seventh with two on and one out and retired the next two batters for her first save of the year. She started the second game, taking her first loss in hard-luck fashion, allowing only one unearned run.

Lee, who threw a perfect game earlier in the season, is also batting .311 as the Lady Bulldogs' leadoff hitter.
