Bulldogs’ 10-game win streak ends
The Mississippi Gulf Coast men's basketball team won't carry a winning streak into 2026. The Bulldogs had their 10-game win streak snapped Friday afternoon at Utica, falling 88-85 to Hinds.
The Bulldogs trailed 77-70 with six minutes left but went on a 9-2 run over the next three minutes to tie it up.
Duran Parish (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) led five Gulf Coast players in double-digits with 24. Maddox Noblitt (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) had 16, and Za'Kariyea Hamilton (So., Jackson/Clinton) had 13.
Zakariyya Dwight (Fr., Cordele, Ga./Crisp County) and King George (Fr., Olive Branch/Olive Branch) had 10 each.
The Bulldogs shot 24 more free throws than Hinds but made just 55.9 percent of those attempts.
Duran Parish (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) made two free throws with 2:50 left for an 81-80 lead, but Hinds scored the next five points. The Bulldogs couldn't close the gap, and a last-second 3-pointer from the corner to tie missed.
Gulf Coast is now 11-2, while Hinds improves to 8-6.
The Bulldogs return to action with a Jan. 2 second against Piney Woods Post-Grad. Tipoff at Dantzler Arena is set for 2 p.m.
