Davis, Chancelor named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Taurean Davis and Reagan Chancelor have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 2.

Davis, a sophomore linebacker from Quitman County, had nine tackles in No. 8 Gulf Coast's 31-10 win at No. 12 Hinds. He also broke up a pass.

Chancelor, a freshman defensive midfielder from Hattiesburg, had a goal in each game for Gulf Coast during a 2-0 week. She had one in a 6-1 over Itawamba and another in a 2-1 win in the NJCAA Gulf South District quarterfinal.

Laurel Conley, a sophomore keeper from Ocean Springs, had 13 saves in a 2-0 week for No. 5 Gulf Coast. She had six saves in a 6-1 win over Itawamba and another seven in a 2-1 win over Meridian in the NJCAA Gulf South District quarterfinal.

Taelar Felton, a sophomore point guard from Clinton, averaged 18.5 points during a 2-0 opening week in Baton Rouge for Gulf Coast. She had 26 points and four assists in an 85-42 win over Southern-Shreveport and 11 points and two assists in a 57-54 win over host Baton Rouge. She shot 50 percent from the 3-point line on 10 attempts. 

Aiden Guinn, a freshman kicker from Wiggins, was perfect on his placements in No. 8 Gulf Coast's 31-10 win at No. 12 Hinds. He made all four point-afters and a 29-yard field goal.

Tyler Henderson, a sophomore wide receiver from Vicksburg, had four catches for 128 yards in No. 8 Gulf Coast's 31-10 win at No. 12 Hinds. He iced the game with a 62-yard touchdown catch-and-run.

Matthew Hinton, a sophomore from Atlanta, Ga., made all nine of his field goal attempts during a 1-1 opening week for Gulf Coast. He had 12 points in a 104-81 win over Coastal Alabama-South and added 10 more in a 72-50 loss at Pensacola State.

Paul Hoefer, a freshman from Heidelberg, Germany, finished second at the Charles Cooper Classic at Windance County Club. He shot 2-under, helping Gulf Coast charge back to tie for the lead after 54 holes. The Bulldogs lost in a one-hole playoff.
