Tullos, Wells named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Baleigh Tullos and Griffin Wells have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Feb. 9-15.

Tullos, a sophomore outfielder from Hurley, batted .571 during a perfect 4-0 week for Gulf Coast. She had two doubles, a triple and seven RBI. Tullos went 3-for-3 with three RBI in the 6-0 over Bishop State and had two hits with a triple in a 7-0 win over Lamar State-Port Arthur.

Wells, a sophomore right-hander from Pascagoula, struck out nine in five shutout innings for Gulf Coast to beat Coastal Alabama-North 6-1.

Also nominated:  

Matthew Hinton, a sophomore center from Atlanta, Ga., averaged 15.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Gulf Coast. He had 17 points and five rebounds in a 77-73 win over Holmes and 13 points and six rebounds in a loss to Itawamba.

Paul Hoefer, a freshman from Heidelberg, Germany, shot even-par in the Pearl River Invitational to help lead No. 1 Gulf Coast to the win at the Pearl River Invitational. He finished second by a shot at Diamondhead Country Club.

Brady Saxton, a freshman first baseman/designated hitter from Brandon, had grand slams in both ends of a doubleheader sweep of Coastal Alabama-North. He finished with 10 RBI in five games.

Breyona Tanner, a freshman right-hander from Hurley, didn't allow an earned run in two appearances, helping Gulf Coast to a 4-0 week. She beat Bishop State 6-0 by allowing just two hits while striking out three. In three innings of relief against Motlow State, she gave up just one hit on the way to a 7-0 win.
