Cade wins MACJC Pitcher of the Week
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast pitcher Kristen Cade has been named MACJC Pitcher of the Week after hurling a one-hitter against Northwest.
Cade, a freshman right-hander from Harrison Central, struck out 11 and gave up four walks in a 7-0 win to kick off the MACJC schedule.
Cade is now eligible for NJCAA Pitcher of the Week honors. She's the third Lady Bulldogs player to earn state honors. Right-hander Avery Sanders and shortstop Shelby Archer swept the awards two weeks ago.
No. 15 Gulf Coast returns to action Friday when No. 19 Highland, from Kansas, visits Ross-Smith Field. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for noon. The game will be streamed at https://livestream.com/MGCCCBulldogs/events/8594862.
