Cade named MACJC Pitcher of the Week
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Kristen Cade has been named MACJC Pitcher of the Week for March 11-17.
Cade, a freshman right-hander from Harrison Central, won the award for the second straight week. She struck out 12 while throwing a three-hit shutout for the No. 5 Lady Bulldogs against No. 14 Highland in a 3-0 win. She entered the second game in relief in a 5-3 loss, striking out four in 2.1 innings.
Cade ranks fourth in NJCAA Division II with 77 strikeouts, and fourth among pitchers with 20 or more innings pitched at 10.37 whiffs per seven innings.
Pitcher Avery Sanders and shortstop Shelby Archer won MACJC honors earlier this season. Cade is again eligible for the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week award.
