No. 7 Mississippi Gulf Coast didn't get enough timely hits Saturday and lost twice on the road at No. 10 Itawamba.
The Lady Bulldogs stranded 16 baserunners combined in 3-1 and 2-1 losses.
Camryn Williams (So., White Hall/White Hall, Ark.) had two hits in the first game, which saw Betty Mingo (So., Choctaw Central/Philadelphia) pick up the sole MGCCC RBI with a sac fly.
In the second game, Briana Shores (Fr., Richland/Richland) drove in the only run when she got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. But Gulf Coast couldn't get any more across, stranding three of their 11 baserunners.
Itawamba (29-10-1, 19-3 MACJC) got single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Lady Bulldogs couldn't draw back even.
Gulf Coast (25-11, 17-5) fell to third place in the conference, a game ahead of East Central. The Lady Bulldogs host Meridian on Tuesday at 3 p.m., head to Mississippi Delta on Wednesday at 1 p.m., and have Sophomore Day on Friday against Coahoma at 2 p.m. in Perkinston.
