Mustered scores NJCAA Player of the Week

PERKINSTON — Linda Mustered has turned on the scoring jets down the stretch for No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast, and she earned a national award Wednesday for her outburst.

The sophomore forward from Biloxi was named the NJCAA Player of the Week after playing a part in six goals during a dominant week for the Bulldogs.

In an 8-0 win at East Mississippi, Mustered had a goal and two assists. She was just getting warmed up for her second hat trick of the season, which came in a 7-0 victory over Hinds.

Mustered is the first Bulldog to win an NJCAA weekly award this season.

The Bulldogs will host an NJCAA Gulf South District quarterfinal Friday when Meridian visits Bary Thrash Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
