Meet The Teams set for Aug. 21

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Meet The Teams event will be held Aug. 21 at Dantzler Arena, and SportsTalk Mississippi joins the fun that day as they broadcast their show from Perk.

Meet the Teams starts at 5:30 p.m., with the Bulldogs' football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball teams being introduced. The Cheerleaders, Band of Gold and Perkettes will also take center stage.

There will be a T-shirt giveaway for students, and the Perkinston Campus Bookstore will have merchandise available at the arena. The Bookstore itself will be open until 7 p.m. to purchase the full range of Bulldogs gear.

SportsTalk Mississippi broadcast will take place starting at 3 p.m. The three-hour shows featuring Richard Cross, Brian Hadad and Michael Borkey will include interviews with Gulf Coast coaches.

Coach Jack Wright's football team has won the MACCC South for the last six seasons, extending the school record. The Bulldogs start the 2025 season Aug. 28 when East Mississippi visits A.L. May Memorial Stadium.

The modern era of Gulf Coast volleyball starts Aug. 23 under Coach Shayna Walsh, with the first home match Aug. 25 against Coastal Alabama-South. The first season will be played at Dantzler Arena.

Soccer starts their seasons Aug. 22, with Coach Chris Handy's men's team at home against Johnson County. His Bulldogs made it to the NJCAA Championship for the second time in school history last year. Coach Ryan Joiner's women's squad plays Southern Union in Livingston, Ala., that day, with the first match at Bary Thrash Field scheduled for Aug. 26 when Pensacola State visits.

Basketball gets underway Oct. 31 when Coach Hope Adams' women's team plays in Baton Rouge. The Bulldogs play their first home game Nov. 13 against East Mississippi. Coach Owen Miller's men's team plays its first game Nov. 1 in Pensacola and starts action in Dantzler Arena on Nov 4 when Baton Rouge Post-Grad visits.
