Bulldogs scrimmage after Meet the Team ceremonies
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Meet the Team night went off without a hitch after a scare from afternoon thundershowers.
The Band of Gold, Perkettes and cheer squad performed for an enthusiastic crowd at newly renovated A.L. May Memorial Stadium before the fourth-ranked Bulldogs ran through what coach Chad Huff called a "mock scrimmage."
"We're just trying to get them in that game-like situation," Huff said. "That was our goal tonight."
Gulf Coast opens the 2016 season Sept. 1 at Itawamba, exactly a week away.
"Offensively and defensively, we were looking at some of the things Itawamba was doing," Huff said. "I thought it was a good deal and we got better. It was a good night."
The Bulldogs return to Perkinston the following week to play top-ranked East Mississippi on Sept. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
