MGCCC wraps up spring practices
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast wrapped up its spring football drills Thursday with about a 60-play scrimmage at historic A.L. May Memorial Stadium.
"Today was a clean scrimmage," Bulldogs coach Chad Huff said. "Defensively, we created some turnovers. Offensively, we had some explosives in the pass game as well as the run game. There are mistakes that we've got to clean up if we were going to be playing a football game today."
Surrounded by four crews of officials getting some of their spring work in, Huff and his staff evaluate the smaller roster typical of this time of year, working on cleaning up fundamentals while pushing the squad to develop leadership heading into their sophomore seasons.
He said they saw improvement on both sides of the ball beginning with the first day in the weight room all the way through the end.
"I'm real pleased where we're at right now this time of year," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting our freshmen in here this summer. I'm pleased with the overall team's spirit and effort."
