Bulldogs ranked second in latest poll
Mississippi Gulf Coast received a pair of first-place votes in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs are ranked second behind defending national champion South Mountain, which got the other five first-place votes. That's the same order those teams finished in NJCAA Tournament last year.
Gulf Coast and No. 5 Meridian are the only MACJC teams ranked in the Top 10.
The Bulldogs have won one of their first three events, finishing second in the other two.
One of those runner-up finishes came at the Wallace State Fall Invitational, where Gulf Coast finished behind only the host team, which is tied for first in the latest Division I poll. The Bulldogs were ahead of Eastern Florida State, which is tied with Wallace State.
Gulf Coast returns to action Oct. 3-4 in the third MACJC event of the fall, which will be hosted by Copiah-Lincoln at Wolf Hollow Golf Club in Wesson.
