Bulldogs strengthen hold on No. 2 spot
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast maintained its hold on the second spot in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAAA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs, who won their ninth straight Region 23 championship, picked up a second first-place vote to pick up a little ground on No. 1 South Mountain. The defending national champs have the other six votes.
Tyler is in third, with the MACJC runner-up Meridian in fourth.
Gulf Coast's team qualified for the national tournament with the sudden-death playoff with Meridian. Only one team receives an automatic berth to Plymouth, Ind., but the Eagles qualified four individuals and will compete as a team without a dropped score.
The Division II Tournament starts May 24 and is a four-day, 72-hole competition.
