No. 2 MGCCC trails by 5 at Meridian
No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coast shot 8-over in the first round of MACJC Event #4, and the Bulldogs trail No. 4 Meridian by five shots its Northwood Country Club.
Jackson Wedgeworth (So., West Jones/Soso) shot a 1-over 72 and is tied for sixth, three behind Copiah-Lincoln's Zachary Smith, who leads the field.
Brice Wilkinson (Fr. Madison Central/Madison) and Colby Entriken (So., Hancock/Pass Christian) are another shot back tied for eighth. Miles Jackson (Fr. Biloxi/Biloxi) is at 3-over tied for 12th.
Meridian's top four golfers finished in the top 11 Monday.
The field tees off for the second and final round Tuesday at 9 a.m.
