Golf team earns national academic award
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's national championship golf team picked up another award for its work in the classroom Friday, being named an 18Birdies All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
The Bulldogs were one of only six NJCAA Division II teams to receive the honor for having a GPA over 3.00. Gulf Coast was named the MACJC Academic All-State Team for having a 3.49, the highest GPA for a golf team in the state.
The MGCCC Athletic Department's efforts in the classroom are overseen by Athletic Academic Advisor Julie Gallup.
