MGCCC win streak grows to 11

Mississippi Gulf Coast pushed its winning streak to 11 with another doubleheader sweep Tuesday, downing East Central 9-5 in both games in Decatur.

The Bulldogs (12-4, 4-0 MACJC) are one of three teams still unbeaten in conference play.

Gulf Coast capitalized on five errors by ECCC (8-10, 1-3) in the first game. Miller Hancock (So., East Webster/Maben) had two hits, and Cullan O'Shea (So., Mary G. Montgomery/Mobile Ala.) had a two-run double.

Dawson Hall pitched seven innings, scattering six hits and allowing only two earned runs to improve to 4-0.

The Bulldogs scored in every inning but the sixth in the nightcap and never trailed all day. Hancock had two more hits, and Alden Davis (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) had a two-run homer and an RBI single. Castor Lee (So., Gulfport/Gulfport) also had two hits.

Ian Landreneau (Fr., John Curtis/River Ridge La.) struck out 11 and didn't walk anybody in six innings to move to 2-0.

East Central was playing its first home games of a very wet season throughout the state.

Gulf Coast returns to action Saturday when Holmes visits Ken "Curly" Farris Field for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. The games will be streamed at https://livestream.com/MGCCCBulldogs/events/8605536.
