5 Bulldogs named All-Region, All-MACJC
PERKINSTON — Five Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball players have picked up honors for the 2019 season, led by right fielder Brandon Parker who was named to the All-NJCAA Region 23 team as well as the All-MACJC First Team.
Shortstop Miller Hancock joined him on the All-MACJC First Team, with pitcher Dawson Hall, third baseman Alden Davis and left fielder/designated hitter Dee Hawthorne earning Second Team honors.
Gulf Coast finished 29-18 and fourth at the Region 23 Tournament.
Parker, a sophomore from West Harrison, received both honors for the second straight season. He batted .359 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI. Parker's on-base percentage was .512, and he was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 10th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
Hancock, a sophomore from Maben, led the Bulldogs with a .364 batting average and had three home runs and 25 RBI. He finished with a .459 on-base percentage.
Hall, a freshman right-hander from East Central, led Gulf Coast in victories and went 9-1 with a 2.81 ERA. He had 77 strikeouts in 80 innings, walking just 23.
Davis, a sophomore from Pascagoula, is a repeat member of the All-MACJC team. He batted .314 with nine home runs and 50 RBI, the latter two stats being second best on the team.
Hawthorne, a freshman from Harrison Central, batted .326 with six home runs and 37 RBI. His .581 slugging percentage was second-best on the team.
