No. 13 Bulldogs fall at No. 13 PRCC

A matchup between two closely-ranked teams ended in a tight results Friday night, with No. 13 Pearl River edging No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast 2-1 in Poplarville.

Gulf Coast is 5-3, 1-1 in MACCC play.

The Bulldogs had won a non-conference matchup between the teams 10 days before by a 2-0 score.

The Wildcats scored in the ninth minute, but Isaac Whitfield (Fr., Gulfport/Gulfport) found Trey Roche (Fr., Pass Christian/Pass Christian) with a crossfield pass with five minutes to play. Roche banged his second goal of the season to send the teams to halftime tied.

Pearl River got the game-winner midway through the second half, and Gulf Coast couldn't get a tying goal.

PRCC is 4-3, 1-1.
