Myers, Coakley named Bulldogs of the Week

PERKINSTON — Kevionna Myers and Brandon Coakley have been named Bulldogs of the Week for March 16-22.

Myers, a freshman from Bassfield, batted .533 with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI during a 4-2 week for Gulf Coast. In a sweep of No. 7 LSU Eunice, she went 2-for-4 with a homer. Myers went 3-for-6 in two games at East Central, then went 3-for-5 with another home run in a sweep at Coahoma.

Coakley, a sophomore third baseman from Covington, La., batted .500 with two home runs, two doubles and five RBI during a 2-2 week for Gulf Coast.

Also nominated:

Gabby Smith, a freshman from Perkinston, went 1-1 with a 1.62 ERA in three appearances. She threw four innings in relief to beat No. 7 LSU 8-7, and gave up only one earned run in a 4-2 loss at East Central.
