Cochran, Dwight named Bulldogs of the Week
PERKINSTON — Kinsey Cochran and Zakariyya Dwight have been named Bulldogs of the Week for Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
Cochran, a sophomore outfielder from Hurley, batted .556 in Gulf Coast's first three games of 2026. Hitting leadoff, she went 5-for-9 with a double and three runs scored during a 2-1 performance at the Mardi Gras Invitational in Youngsville, La.
Dwight, a freshman forward from Cordele, Ga., had 24 points and seven rebounds for Mississippi Gulf Coast in a 79-62 win at East Central. He made 10-of-14 shots from the field (71.4 percent) while going 2-for-4 from the 3-point arc. It was the only game of the week for the Bulldogs.

Taelar Felton, a sophomore point guard from Clinton, had 14 points and three steals in Gulf Coast's 53-45 win at East Central. It was the only game of the week for the Bulldogs.
Garrett Gardner, a freshman second baseman from Madison, went 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBI in a 15-1 win over Florida Post-Grad in baseball's season opener.
Jayden Owensby, a freshman from Hernando, surged up the standings in the final round of the Titan Winter Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., to earn All-Tournament honors. He shot even-par to finish the tournament at 8-over, good for a fifth-place tie.
McKenzie Smith, a freshman from St. Amant, La., went 1-0 with a save in the Bulldogs' opening week. She didn't allow a hit in five innings of work, shutting out Angelina in the seventh inning of a 4-3 win for the save, then blanking Baton Rouge for four innings of a 10-0 win in five.
Griffin Wells, a sophomore from Pascagoula, struck in six in three innings of Gulf Coast's 15-1 over Florida Post-Grad to open the season. He allowed just one hit.
