No. 2 Bulldogs in 2nd after 18
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast, which moved back up into second in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll, finds itself in second place in the final MACCC event of the year.
The Bulldogs are two shots behind No. 7 Meridian, which shot 4-over 292 in the first round of the Southwest Mississippi Spring Invitational. No. 6 Northeast Mississippi is in third at 10-over.
The final round at Quail Hollow Golf Club in McComb will be Tuesday.
Gulf Coast's Matt Wilkinson (Fr, Madison Central/Madison) is tied for second at even-par 72 along with two Northeast golfers, six back of Meridian's Ethan Dyess who shot a stellar 66.
Chase Wilkinson (Fr, Madison Central/Madison) is tied for fifth at 1-over, and Peyton Norwood (So, Jackson Academy/Madison) is seventh at 2-over. Hayden Green (So, D'Iberville/Biloxi) is another shot back tied for eighth, along with Ethan Trouth (Fr, The Streetly Academy/Sutton Coldfield, England), who is playing as an individual.
