No. 3 MGCCC finishes 3rd at final MACCC event
No. 6 Northeast Mississippi charged to its second MACCC event victory of the year Tuesday, with second-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast finishing third at the Southwest Mississippi Spring Invitational.
The Tigers shot 15-over for the 36-hole event, with the Bulldogs finishing seven shots back. No. 7 Meridian finished second at 18-over.
Matt Wilkinson (Fr, Madison Central/Madison) shot 3-over at Quail Hollow Gulf Club in McComb to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Chase Wilkinson (Fr, Madison Central/Madison) finished tied for sixth at 7-over.
Northeast was third after the first round, but shot an outstanding 5-over on Tuesday to surge to the top of the leaderboard.
Gulf Coast won half the six MACCC tournaments this year, plus the MACCC and NJCAA District D tournament preview events. Meridian won the other tournament.
The MACCC Championship will be played April 19-20 at Briarwood Golf Club in Meridian, with the NJCAA District D Championship on April 27-28 at Reunion Golf and Country Club in Madison.
