#1 Bulldogs face stuff test on the road at #8 Hinds

The MACJC South Division opener for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is also a huge battle of NJCAA Top 10 teams as the #1 Bulldogs face #8 Hinds Thursday at 6:30 pm.

Gulf Coast, a team that's now been ranked in the NJCAA poll for 105 straight weeks, is coming off a 36-7 win over Holmes that featured two defensive touchdowns and a score on a fake field goal. The Bulldog defense has now scored four defensive TD'S, which is tops in the Nation. Bulldog linebacker and MACJC Defensive Player of the Week nominee Trey Wafford has two of those touchdowns.

On paper, both offenses are dynamic, with Hinds averaging 537 yards per game and Gulf Coast racking up 528 yards per contest. The Eagles are led by quarterback James Summers, a Greensboro, NC native who's thrown for 314 yards, 3 TD'S and 3 interceptions. He's also rushed for 189 yards and 5 TD'S in two games. Eagle running back Gregory Foster has rushed for 193 yards and 2 TD'S, while Hinds receivers LaChristopher Lee, Keithon Redding, Robert Lockhart, and Desmond Anderson have caught passes for scores.

Gulf Coast should get another starting assignment from freshman quarterback Terrian Page, who's subbing for the injured Colton Kane. In a little more than six quarters of work, page has thrown for 217 yards and a score with no interceptions. NJCAA All-American wideout Dhaquille Williams has caught 11 balls for 159 yards and 3 scores is hoping to see playing time after suffering an injury against Holmes Sept. 5.

In the last two meetings between Gulf Coast and Hinds, the Bulldogs jumped out to big leads only to see the Eagles storm back and almost pull off upset victories.
