Evans earns MACJC Defensive Player of the Week honors
For the third time this season a Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defender has earned statewdie honors. Bulldog defensive back Justin Evans is the MACJC Defensive Player of the Week after recovering two fumbles, forcing a fumble, and intercepting two passes in his team's 49-7 trouncing of East Central. Evans, a 6'0, 195 pound freshamn from Wiggins, returned one of those interceptions 35 yards for a touchdown. In 2013 linebacker Cavellis Luckett and linebacker Trey Wafford also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the Bulldogs.
This season Evans leads Gulf Coast in interceptions with five and is third on the team with 47 tackles. The #5 Bulldogs make thier seventh straight trip to the MACJC playoffs this Saturday against #2 East Mississippi at 2 p.m. in Scooba.
