Bulldogs try to bounce back on the road at Northeast

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College went from the NJCAA'S #1 ranked team to a squad just hungry for a win after last week's 52-42 loss to Jones. The Bulldogs saw a 28-21 halftime lead evaporate as the Bobcats cashed in on two turnovers and peppered Gulf Coast with several big plays.

This week the #10 Bulldogs embark on a 5-hour trip north to take on Northeast. The Tigers are coming off a 34-21 win over Northwest that featured the emergence of freshman quarterback Jeremy Liggins, a 6-4, 295 pound wrecking ball that started the season at defensive end for the Tigers. Liggins, a former Gulf Coast commitment, tossed 3 touchdown passes in last week's victory. The Tigers rushed for a season-low 173 yards against Northwest but the team's offensive line hasn't given up a quarterback sack in the last two games.

Gulf Coast is hoping sophomore quarterback Colton Kane (31/36, 383 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT) can continue to improve after replacing freshman signal caller Terrian Page in the first quarter of last week's contest. Kane found NJCAA All-American wideout Dhaquille Williams 11 times for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns. MACJC leading rusher Antwon Wells (81/433 yards, 6 TD'S) is averaging 108 yards per game while the Bulldog rushing attack is tops in the MACJC. Despite giving up more than 500 yards of offense to Jones, the Gulf COast defense intercepted two passes, giving the team 10 turnovers on the season.

Thursday's game marks the first trip to Northeast by Gulf Coast since 2007.
