Former Bulldog earns NFL post-season honors
Former Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College football standout Don Jones was recently named to the Pro Football Writer's Association 2013 All-Rookie team for his outstanding work on special teams for the Miami Dolphins.
Jones, a Town Creek, AL native, played at Gulf Coast in 2010 and intercepted a pass and scored a touchdown as Gulf Coast won the 2010 MACJC Title 31-17 over Co-Lin. He went on to play at Arkansas State before being picked in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL draft as a backup cornerback and safety. Jones earned a spot with the Dolphins special teams unit and helped Miami win its 2013 home opener against Atlanta after a big hit jarred loose the ball from Atlanta's Harry Douglas. The Dolphins recovered the fumble and eventually scored the game-winning touchdown in a 27-23 win.
