Another MACJC South Division showdown for Top-Ranked Bulldogs

The road to a 16th State Championship doesn't get any easier for #1 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College as MACJC South Division foe Jones comes to town this week.

The undefeated and 14th ranked Bobcats ambushed the then #1 ranked Bulldogs 35-28 in last year's meeting and are hoping to do the same in 2013.  Jones got its first South Division win Saturday in a 34-16 win over Pearl River highlighted by quarterback Steven Swindle's 331 yard, and four touchdown pass performance. Three of those TD passes went to JaMichael Willis, who caught eight passes for 198 yards. For the second straight week, the Bobcat defense created five turnovers and the JCJC offense did not turn the ball over.

Meanwhile Gulf Coast outlasted #8 Hinds 41-34 in a battle of NJCAA top 10 teams. The Bulldog offense rushed for 335 yards, 150 of those coming from sophomore running back Antwon Wells, who carried 22 times and scored three touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Terrian Page rushed for 69 yards and two scores while kicker Tristan Reynolds booted two field goals. The Gulf Coast defense forced two turnovers and held Hinds duel-threat quarterback James Summers to 49 yards rushing and 1 TD. So far in 2013, Gulf Coast has rushed for 992 yards and 11 touchdowns while the defense has created eight turnovers and scored four TD'S.
