MGCCC golf ranked third in nation
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast is ranked third in the first Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs finished fourth in the nation last year, their third straight top four finish. They are ranked behind two-time defending champion South Mountain and Tyler.
Two other MACJC teams are in the rankings: No. 6 Meridian and No. 9 Copiah-Lincoln.
Coach Tommy Snell's team starts its 2016-17 season on Sept. 12 at the Wallace State Fall Invitational. The two-day tournament is being played in Cullman, Ala.
The Bulldogs are hosting a pair of tournaments this year. The MGCCC Fall Invitational, which also serves as the fourth MACJC event of the season, is Oct. 17-18 at Grand Bear Golf Course in Saucier.
That course will also be the site of the District D Championship on April 24-25. Gulf Coast will be trying to win that tournament for the 10th straight time.
