No. 4 MGCCC plays last MACJC Tourney before postseason
No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast plays its last regular-season golf tournament this weekend at Lion Hills Golf Course in Columbus.
The sixth MACJC event of the season will be a two-day, 36-hole tournament. The Bulldogs won the first two of the year, but have finished second, third and second in the three since.
They are tied with Meridian in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll. Tyler is the unanimous pick at No. 1, followed by Murray State and South Mountain.
Copiah-Lincoln is the only other MACJC team in the poll, checking in at sixth.
The MACJC Championship will be played April 9-10 at Wolf Hollow Golf Course in Wesson. Gulf Coast will defend its championship there, trying to qualify for the new District D Tournament.
It replaces the old Region 23 Tournament. Gulf Coast won the last nine of those, when only the winner advanced to nationals. This year, the top three teams will qualify to go Mesa, Ariz. That tournament is May 23-26.
