No. 4 MGCCC leads at Columbus

No. 4 Mississippi Gulf Coast is halfway toward winning its third MACJC event of the season.

 

The Bulldogs are four-over after 18 holes at Lion Hills Golf Course in Columbus, three shots in front of Copiah-Lincoln and Meridian. East Mississippi is hosting the sixth conference tourney, the last before the postseason.

 

Gulf Coast's Colin Troxler (So., Hahnville/Luling, La.) and Wyatt Adkison (So., East Central/Hurley) are tied for second in the individual standings. They're three shots back of Co-Lin's Joseph Dendy.

 

Jonathon Newman (So., North Pike/Summit) and Logan Leary are tied for fifth at 1-over 73. Jackson Wedgeworth (Fr., West Jones/Soso) is also in the top 10, with a 2-over 74 that puts him in eighth.

 

Meridian is tied with Gulf Coast in fourth in the latest Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll. Co-Lin is sixth.

 

The nine-team field concludes play Sunday with another 18 holes. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.
