Troxler represents MGCCC at Patriot All-America
Troxler (6-2, 137, so., Hahnville/Luling, La.) will join fellow Bulldog teammate Phillip Hickam in the event, which runs through Saturday at The Wigwam Resort's Gold Course.
The field consists of 84 PING All-American golfers from across the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA. The winner of the 54-hole event gets a sponsor exemption into the Web.com Tour's 2017 Air Capital Classic in Wichita, Kansas.
Each golfer represents a fallen American service member. They play carrying a golf bag that has the name and branch of service of a fallen American. The bags are later auctioned off from the players' schools, with proceeds going to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while in active service.
Troxler will be playing for Michael J. Bordelon, a native of St. Mary's Parish, La., who was injured when his vehicle hit an improvised explosive device near Mosul, Iraq, in 2005.
Troxler, who as signed with Louisiana-Lafayette, was named to the PING All-Freshman team last year and earned second-team NJCAA All-American honors. He also earned All-Region 23 and All-MACJC awards.
Hickam, who is a junior at Chattanooga, will be playing for James W. Ponder III. Ponder was an Army pilot who was killed in the Afghanistan helicopter crash that was part of the movie "Lone Survivor."
