No. 3 Bulldogs want to go low again

No. 3 Mississippi Gulf Coast makes the long trip to Southaven this weekend to play in the second MACJC golf event of the season, which starts Sunday.

The Bulldogs won the opening event last week after shooting 14-under as a team in the opening round. It was such a dominant round they threw out an even-par 72.

"We're looking forward to it. We usually play really well up there," Gulf Coast coach Tommy Snell said. "It's one of those courses, where if you get it going, you can go pretty low on it. It's a good chance for us to learn how to score."

The Bulldogs are ranked third in the Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division II Coaches Poll.

The teams will be playing the two-day, 36-hole tournament at North Creek Golf Course, which Snell has heard is in great shape for the teams.

"I heard the greens are really fast, which we like," he said. "They're supposed to be perfect. "
